Meet Darryle–Xtreme Pointman In Groton
Let me introduce to you, Darryle Lee, age 48, of Lansing. Darryle, an Ithaca High graduate, is my main staff member in the early evenings most days of the week. At first, he might seem a bit shy, but he is more than happy to answer any questions for you and figure out what fitness commitment would benefit you most here at Xtreme Headquarters. Not only does he have a full-time job and family (Wife-Kathy, Daughter-Alyssa, Son-Jordan), he is also a 20-year veteran in the sport of bodybuilding! By day he works at Cornell University as Assistant Director of IT at the Vet College, and by night he is training and working at Xtreme Headquarters in Groton.
Darryle was a power lifter for the first 6 years after graduating from Kentucky State University. He was ranked 4th in the nation at one point, and then tried bodybuilding on a dare from his brother Greg. Darryle competed in both sports for a few years then stuck to only bodybuilding. He won some state titles, a national title, then at the age of 40, won his Pro Card. “That’s really late in life!” he says. He is a 100% committed drug-free Natural Bodybuilder in 3 drug free organizations, USBF(United States Bodybuilding Federation), IFPA(International Fitness & Physique Association), NGA(National Gym Association). These organizations do drug testing at all of their shows /competitions.
“I have been drug free (natural) for life and am a strong believer in that. I also preach this message to kids and any athlete or any person I meet. With very hard work, dedication, will power, and heart you can meet and reach your goals. Drug free means just that. No steroids, growth hormones, dietetics, etc…,” he proclaims.
“I’ve done 4 shows so far this year and plan to do 3 more. That’s a lot and way more than most bodybuilders compete. I would say the average bodybuilder does 2 or 3 shows a year,” says the champ who has yet to show his age!
